Famous Beauty Brands That Contributed To BLM Movement

It is a sad and unfortunate truth that even in the 21st Century, we deal with prominent racism in every part of the world. White supremacy, racial prejudices, and bigotry are a part of society’s harsh reality that our modern world is dealing with. The woke American generation has had it enough, and thus took to the streets to show their support for the Black Lives Matter Movement. However, words and protests are a part of small changes that will hopefully lead to a world free of such shameful notions. 

With politicians, students, fashion models, actors joining the BLM movement to increase the momentum, here is a list of cosmetics brands that have pledged to support and contribute to this movement.

Huda Beauty

This beauty cosmetics brand has a cult following in the past years. It is most well-known for its iconic matte lipsticks. The company was founded by Huda Kattan, an Iraqi-American makeup artist, and businesswoman. She made it to the Time magazine’s of “The 25 Most Influential People on the Internet” in the year 2017. Using her huge social media following for the right causes, the cosmetics brand’s official Instagram page uploaded a black picture to support the movement. Furthermore, the caption of the post read “At Huda Beauty, we stand against racism today and always”. To add on to show their support, the beauty brand donated a sum of $500,000 to NAACP.

Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez’s upcoming beauty brand Rare Beauty has also taken a stand against the bigots and White supremacists of the world. The beauty brand clearly stated on their Instagram post that they are committed to taking a stand against Racism. Moreover, the 13 reasons why the producer’s cosmetics brand actively showed support by donating to two crucial organizations in need, they are- the NAACP educational and legal defense fund and also the Bail Project. The pop singer once again proved to be a worthy role model by concluding the Instagram post with an inspirational message to encourage people to donate and contribute to the change.

Colourpop Cosmetics

The LA-based cosmetics brand expressed its full support to the black community, who are fighting against the racist system, inequality, oppression, and violence. The beauty brand expressed that they are ready to support the movement in any way they could and that they won’t turn a blind eye to the disturbing reality. Furthermore, the cosmetics firm made three major contributions to organizations in dire need of financial support. The beauty makeup brand donated $25,000 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, $25,000 to the ALCU, and an additional $250,000 to several other organizations that support the black communities.

Anastasia Beverley Hills

The luxurious beauty cosmetics brand proudly took a stand against racism, inequality, oppression, and violence towards the black communities. To show their zero tolerance towards bigotry, the official Instagram account of the website released a statement in which they pledged to use their platform for the better of their community. To show their support, they donated a total of $100,000 to Black Lives Matter, The Innocence Project, Black Visions Collective, The NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, and The Marshall Project. Furthermore, the makeup brand also informed their followers that they will financially support black artists and Black-owned businesses in the fashion beauty industry. 

It’s imperative that has an established organization, the founders take in the time to support and contribute to the crucial causes. Besides, these four brands, there over 70 beauty brands that contributed to the BLM movement. Some of them are- Maybelline, Hourglass cosmetics, Biossance, Herbivore, Billie, Honest Beauty, and more.
